Introduction
The Equine Department offers excellent facilities for students interested in a career with horses. The department is located at Mount Pleasant and offers brand new purpose built stabling. The site is compact and features two indoor arenas, classroom and student rest room.

Students can take advantage of tuition in riding and all aspects of horse care and management. The College has a range of quality horses which provide experience for all standards from novice to advanced level riders. Lessons are conducted in small groups ensuring that students receive tuition which caters for their individual needs. Students also have the option of stabling their own horses at the centre. The local countryside is particularly suitable for riding, as there is a network of bridleways surrounding the stables. This makes riding on the roads unnecessary for approximately ten miles. Regular shows, clinics and events are held at the centre which the students are encouraged to participate in. Routine yard duties form part of the course. Students will take part in the morning, evening and weekend duties on a rota. This contributes toward their qualification and provides valuable practical experience. Staff in the equine department are committed to providing good quality teaching and all have wide and varied experience within the equestrian industry. The equine team are a knowledgeable and experienced group of professionals who are able to combine current information on equine science and business management with sound practical skills. Expertise within the team includes BHS instructors and equine science graduates.
