Upstart company Golly Galoshes, was
named the winner of the BETA International
2009 Innovation Awards for Saddlery and
Tack.
Golly Galoshes gaiters are worn over traditional
boots and bandages; they keep them dry
and clean in all weathers, as well as
protecting the legs from thorns or debris.
They are produced in high visibility colours,
and made in waterproof and reflective
material, with a 3M strip to improve safety
in low light conditions.
The Awards, presented during Britain’s
largest equestrian trade exhibition at
the NEC, Birmingham on 15-17th February,
were judged by a panel of six equestrian
professionals and experts. These included
Yogi Breisner, world class Performance
Manager to the British Eventing team,
Master Saddler, Mike Norton, and international
dressage rider and trainer Pammy Hutton.
Despite the plethora of products on display,
the judges were collectively agreed that
Golly Galoshes gaiters stood out over
and above the rest. Speaking about the
product they commented: “Sensibly
priced, practical idea with big bonuses
in muddy weather. A product that fulfils
a real rather than a perceived need.”
BETA is attended by the UK’s leading
equestrian retailers and wholesalers,
who visit the event each year to seek
out the latest innovative products. With
so many new products launched at the fair,
the Best Innovation Award came as a wonderful
surprise to first time exhibitor Jean
Hammond-Rumbold of Golly Galoshes. Absolutely
delighted and proud with the award Jean
said; “This is a fantastic achievement.
Although I’ve been working on the
product for a number of years, it only
evolved into the gaiter I took to BETA
in September last year, I am ecstatic
that it has come so far in such a short
period of time”.
The gaiters retail at £24.99 - £32.99
per pair and are available in a number
of sizes and high-visibility reflective
colours – all with a 3M-safety strip.
