SEASON:
Mid-April
– October
GUEST CAPACITY: 18
ACCOMMODATIONS: Guests
stay at camp for the whole week. The TX Ranch has three different cow
camps. The first camp is "Dead Man". It's their spring camp and that's
where their April cattle drives end up. When the spring pasture is gone
guests will move up to "Hank's Camp", which is nestled at the base of
the Pryor Mountains. By July they're usually at their third camp, the
"Lone Wolf". This is their main camp and there's enough good grass to
support the cattle in this area until their October cattle drives.
Each cow camp has a log cabin in which good, home-cooked meals are prepared.
Everyone sleeps in wall tents on camp beds. Wood heating stoves are supplied
for the cooler weeks and they're very efficient. There is no electricity,
TV, telephones, or noise. Peace and quiet, with maybe the mournful howl
of a coyote in the distance. Evenings are often spent trading stories
around the campfire. Since there is no running water, solar-heated shower
bags are used. They work very well, and when the sun isn't shining water
is heated on the cook stove.

meals are prepared in a log cabin and are eaten at tables in the cabin
