| The
HG-GO features the same patented design and
scientific testing that HAYGAIN is renowned
for, whilst being very portable.
Developed by the experts at Propress Equine,
who combine a wealth of equestrian knowledge
in their quest to ensure that high-quality dust-free
forage is available to every horse, all HAYGAIN
hay steamers are designed and manufactured in
the UK.
The fully collapsible bag will accommodate half
a bale of hay or large hay net. The HG-GO is
ideal to take to shows, or enables one to steam
at home and then take to the yard. It is available
in black or pink.
The robust HG-GO is manufactured in a non-rip
material with an antibacterial interior and
insulated interlined multi layer construction
for exceptional thermal efficiency.
All the models in the HAYGAIN range feature
insulated weather proof steam receptacles giving
optimum thermal efficiency leading to ongoing
operating savings. The patented steam manifold
design enables steam to penetrate the centre
of the hay, releasing steam which defuses from
the centre outwards, ensuring total effective
steaming throughout, killing fungal spores,
bacteria and dust mites.
Also available in the range are the HG1000 unit,
designed to take an entire strung hay bale but
if required can also be used with hay nets or
wedges of hay, and the HG500 (half bale) hay
steamer. Steamed hay is ready to feed immediately
after steaming cycles of less than 50 minutes
depending on model. Complete nutritional value
and goodness are maintained with improved palatability
and digestibility.
The revolutionary concept was extensively researched,
developed and tested at the Royal Agricultural
College, Cirencester. Led by Dr Moore-Colyer,
the research found that hay treated with the
HAYGAIN steamer destroys all mould and spores
present, in effect sterilizing the hay.
Findings showed that one gram of untreated hay
contained around 7,750,000 spores; HAYGAIN reduced
that number to virtually 0.
HAYGAIN’s effectiveness at eliminating
these spores was further substantiated when
the Irish Equine Centre carried out independent
testing on particularly bad hay which was known
to contain Aspergillus. “Aspergillus is
one of the main causes of RAO, EIPH, immune
suppression and poor performance in racehorses.
It is also however, heat sensitive and so is
greatly reduced using HAYGAIN hay steamers.”
said Thomas Buckley, head of Microbiology at
the Irish Equine Centre.
