Colic
-
This
is a term used when a horse has abdominal pain - a very sore tummy.
There can be many causes, but the most common are a change in
diet, over-feeding, and worm infestation. The horse will appear
restless and may sweat: he/she may look round at his belly and
start to roll.
If symptons do not improve after 20 minutes, or if the horse becomes
more uncomfortable or is in severe pain,
Call
the vet !!
Do not let the horse eat or drink, and
try to determine whether he has passed any droppings recently.
Discourage from rolling, and if in its stable, protect the horse
from injury when rolling by banking up the walls on a deep bed.
