Now well established on the young horse scene, the Futurity
announces new additional evaluation venues around the
country for 2009.
The Futurity sets out to evaluate young horses and sports
ponies from foals to three years for performance potential
as dressage horses, show jumpers, eventers, sports ponies
and, new for this year, endurance horses.
On the day, horses are seen by a vet who allocates a
score for potential future competitive longevity and
then are seen both in hand and loose in a safe indoor
environment by a panel of three evaluators who assess
the horses in line with their stage of development and
their intended discipline. Horses obtain a premium certificate
and detailed score sheet, handsome rosette, fully reportable
results service and scores are available on the National
Equine Database (NED) to add value to young horses long
before they are able to compete.
The Futurity has gone from strength to strength, with
100 horses in 2005 rising to 650 potentials this year.
The list of venues and dates (which range from Aberdeen
to Camelford), updated Futurity factsheets, link to
online entries and a dedicated helpline are all available
at www.bef.co.uk.
An established focus for breeders and producers of young
sport horses, and open to amateur and professionals
alike, the Futurity welcomes all enquiries www.bef.co.uk,
in the British Breeding section.
