WORMING YOUR HORSE

Worming without the horseplay

Syringe handling, horse acceptance and the tendency to spit out some or all of the paste are common problems reported by owners when worming their horses1. In fact, more than 55% admit that these issues can result in a mixture of emotions, including frustration, anxiety and upset2. The launch of Vectin chewable tablets means that help is finally at hand for owners who may end up wearing most of the product following a stressful worming session.

Thankfully there is little horseplay when administering Vectin chewable tablets – simply hold out your hand for an effective and enjoyable worming experience. The more civilized approach to worming, field studies showed more than 70% spontaneous acceptance by horses and the simple calculation of one tablet for every 110kg of a horse or foal’s bodyweight helps to reduce wastage as unused tablets can be stored away for future use.

Protection is not compromised by the simple delivery of Vectin chewable tablets; the key active ingredient, ivermectin, is a mainstay in current worming programmes due to its safety and efficacy against a broad spectrum of internal and external equine parasites. Used as part of a strategic worming plan, Vectin chewable tablets control potentially fatal parasites including small and large strongyles (also known as redworms), and stomach bots which can cause colic.

Vectin chewable tablets are available as a seven-tablet blister pack, perfect for treating a horse or a couple of ponies. For yards, a tub of 60 tablets is available, containing enough to treat approximately 12 horses in one go.
Vectin chewable tablets are recommended for use within Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health’s Active3 worming plan, a strategic three-year approach to delay the onset of wormer resistance, and should be used alongside Panacur and Pyratype P.
