Whilst most ‘mud’ products take the form of creams, lotions and washes, Fabtek Solutions provide antibacterial leg care products that can work alone, or in conjunction with some other items in this category.

Mudtek

To help prevent problems associated with the mud, Fabtek Solutions have three products available from their Mudtek® range: Antibacterial Stable Boots, Antibacterial Pastern Wraps and Antibacterial Bandage Pads.

Each product has been designed to sit next to the horse’s skin, allowing the Zorflex® that each product contains to have maximum contact. Zorflex® is an activated carbon fabric that is antibacterial. It works by drawing bacteria towards it, and holding them in its fibres until they die. A process accelerated by the particulates of silver Zorflex® contains. Zorflex® has undergone extensive antibacterial studies, and has proven to be very effective against a range of bacteria, including Dermatophilus Congolensis.

All Mudtek products are designed for indoor use, after the horse’s legs have been cleaned after a day in the field. All products are washable, and prices start from £28.80.

Meditek

If your horse has mud fever, or any other injury where there is an open wound, Meditek® Silver Wound Dressings combine all the qualities of a high quality wound dressing with antibacterial Zorflex® .

The micro porous structure of the wound dressing adsorbs wound odour, and other components absorb any moisture, helping to keep the wound dry and clean. The Zorflex® that Medite® k Silver Wound Dressings contain, draws bacteria away from the wound, holds them inside the activated carbon fabric until, removed from their source of food, they die. A process accelerated by the silver the Zorflex® contains. Zorflex® has undergone numerous antibacterial studies, and proven very effective.
