Eighty competitors representing twenty one nations set out on the four days of competition to decide team and individual honours. Team favourites were undoubtedly the reigning European champions Great Britain and despite trailing Germany after the dressage phase they would sweep to victory with their three top riders William Fox-Pitt, Mary King and Nicola Wilson all finishing on their dressage scores. One hundred riders set out on the 160 km ride across the Kentucky countryside the morning after the opening ceremony and riders from the United Arab Emirates team would dominate the team competition with three of them finishing in the first 8 home. However, nobody could live with Maria Mercedes Alvarez Ponton and her hugely durable 15yr old French bred gelding Nobby who led from the third vetgate and steadily increased their lead through the rest of the ride to finish over a minute in front of HE Sheikh Mohammed . The powerhouse team from the USA took gold yet again to maintain their 100% record since Reining became part of the World Equestrian Games.Star of their team was Shawn Flarida with the 12yr old Palamino stallion RC Fancy Step as they scored the highest individual mark in the team event of 227.Commentary by Philip Ghazala and Brian Bendele.Approx 52 mins. TEAM - After the first round of the Nations Cup style team competition any three of six Nations could realistically win medals but in the second round the Germans jumped 3 immaculate clears to win the title.

Britain’s 21 year old Joanne Eccles lived up to all expectations when she added the World title to her European title she won last year to give Britain it’s first ever Vaulting medal in the Individual Vaulting.The host nation won the Team title after an excellent performance in the final freestyle which moved them up from 3rd ahead of Germany and Austria.In the men’s competition, Switzerland’s Patric Looser gave his country their only medal of the games.All the best performances are shown in full.Commentary by John Kyle.Approx. 52 mins.EVProduction.
