Grand Prix Special and Kur

There was a definite feeling that Holland's Anky can Grunsven and Salinero were beatable in the Special leaving Isabell Werth with a real chance of victory and she seized the opportunity with an imperious performance that was faultless.

Fifteen riders contested the eargerly anticipated finale to the dressage competition - the Kur. The queen of the Kur Anky van Grunsven was once again in a class of her own as Salinero answered her every call.

In the second part of this schooling series,Philippe Karl presents additional gymnastic exercises, which continue to further the horse's training. He introduces the double bridle as an important aid for advanced gymnastic exercises. Part 1 - This video covers the first seven weeks of the training of two rising four year old horses from the day they arrive at Rudolfs yard. The work centres on the first three elements of the training scale - rythym, suppleness and contact, demonstrating how quickly and confidently the horses adapt to being ridden whilst losing none of their natural movement and presence.

Part 2 - Using a variety of four year old horses Rudolf demonstrates the continuation of early training introduced in part 1 and shows work to develop impulsion, straightening and collection. Part 3 - Rudolf Zeilinger demonstrates lateral work with his own horses, explaining when to begin, what requirements have to be fulfilled and how the works individually with horses which vary greatly in temperament as well as training level. In this very impressive demonstration the viewer is able to see how all of Zeilingers horses achieve constantly increasing levels of elasticity, impulsion and suppleness as a result of lateral work.

Part 4 - The counter canter and flying changes are the main aspects dealt with in part 4 of this film series. The extremely successful dresage trainer Rudolf Zeilinger once again affords us the opportunity to see how he works with his horses. Learning to do the flying change, for example, is something which many horses do not find easy. He realistically shows us how even difficult horses can learn to do this lesson. This DVD emphasises the idea of balance and of the rider having responsibility for his/her own weight in respect for the horses back and mouth. Sylvia Loch and her pupils work together with her different schoolmaster horses and certain techniques eg.
